Thanks for the info. I'm making an effort to cut back, without reference to JWs. I want to cut back for my own health. While it's nice to have a drink after dinner, it's also nice not to wake up feeling woozy.

Now I'm not a JW, is it ok for me to...
by Julia Orwell in...drink a lot?
gosh i love wine.
i like a good bottle of wine each night, and i have a high tolerance to alcohol, though i never drank much (except for a couple of times with the vodka, but i don't keep that stuff in the house anymore, way too dangerous) as a jw because getting slightly happy is a 'sin'.

"The speaker even used the occasion to guilt some inactive ones in the audience. "
That's why although I will have to eventually since some old JW friends are quite ill, I never want to go back to one of those. I worry my husband might feel the guilt since his mind is not as sceptical and 'poisoned' as mine.

I joined up in about February this year I think so I'm new, but it's nice to meet you. There's a lot going on JW world, even since I left! A whole lot of new light about blah blah blah FDS blah blah blah the Governing Body rules...

My Walmart encounter with the dubs today
by poppers inyup, there were 3 of them camped out in front of the store with their display of materials - first time i've seen them there.
he said he converted 5 years ago from the presbyterians, and that he had learned more in 1 year with the jws than all his time with the presbyterians (the usual stuff, jesus died on a stake, paradise earth, etc).
he claimed he didn't know about the invisible return of jesus, he was dismissive of the impact of disfellowshipping and that people can leave with little consequence, he claimed that the romans didn't use a cross until 200 years after jesus died on the stake.

Me too! I lived with my non-Jw parents for over half the time I was a JW and always tried to make it seem benign. I did a good job too, because now since I've only just left this year and am explaining what they really teach, they've been flabbergasted! I mean, they lived with a JW for years! This fellow at the Walmart too, was probably trying, albeit very clumsily, to sugar coat the JW teachings. Either that, or he was a real simpleton.

Searching for Watchtower about working for / with disfellowshipped person
by confusedandalone inevening,.
i wanted to know if anyone knows which watchtower articles speak about working with or for a disfellowshipped person.
it would appear that there is now a huge witch hunt regarding this because of my recent situation.

Oh dear Confused, I do hope they don't try to ruin you over this. What of the young lady who used to be in Bethel? How is she taking all this? I'd hate to see families suffer economically because they are pressured by a bunch of religious twats.

Aust. Election in 1 week - A review of Kevin Rudd, PM
by fulltimestudent ini'm still determined not to vote - just to write something unpleasant about pollies on the ballot paper.
if i lived in victoria, i just may, as an act of sheer bastardry, vote for julian assange (of wikileaks fame), but i don't live in vic, so i cant.. my objection to voting is that the political choice offers two self-perpetuating oligarchies (who are something like the governing body).
they make up a slate of candidates and election advertising consists of attempting to persuade swinging voters to vote for their slate of candidates.. anyway, i noted that k.rudd has made a video in chinese, aimed apparently at mainland china.

Former L T Elder- Head Quarters & Great Tribulation
by James Jackson inthe local needs talk this week was about helping with the building project in warick new york.
the speaker said twice that project was for building the "world head quarters"!
then he added twice; that the "great tribulation" cannot start to after the "world head quarters" is built!

Sweet, well the logical thing would be to delay building the new headquarters so more people can be saved through the preaching work. Selfish sods, wanting it to come so soon!!
